SUCCESS IS WHERE PREPARATION AND OPPORTUNITY MEET

Workshops, 1:1 training, group sessions, personalized goal boards, and at home training is the preperation. The opportunity is going on a week long adventure to the Rocky Mountains. These exceptional adventure athletes will experience a lot of challenges, but we will show them how our team and the world believes in them and their abilities. When they overcome these challenges they will earn the feeling of self confidence and the drive to set more goals.

ADVENTURE COACH

MAKE AN IMPACT

The difference between a coach and a volunteer is the level of committment and the specificity of your time given. As a coach you will be involved with these atheltes through the entire adventure program. You will help with accountability, adventure workshops, 1:1 training, and more. Each year we take at least 1 of our coaches to the Adirondacks to experience it with the athletes. For this program, we need 2 coaches to work with these exceptional adventure athletes. If at anytime the adventure athlete is struggling to stay motivated, have them watch our video from last years adventure to the Adirondacks to inspire them to keep pushing forward towards this amazing experience and goal!

ACCOUNTABILITY

Accountability and motivation are key factors to progressing towards a goal. We have designed over 20 different print off sheets for the adventure athletes to use on a weekly basis. Some examples are at home training sessions, hydration tracker, weekly schedule, monthly goals, motivational quote of the week, habit tracker, habit breaker, and more.

Hiking & Biking workshop - Celery Fields

WORKSHOP DETAILS

This hiking workshop is a great way to emerse them into the feeling of being an adventurer since they will start their hike in the dark with a head lamp. This is also a great way for our coaches to find out how they work together and communicate.

Workshop Details

Location: Meet at the Celery Fields (6893 Palmer Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34240)

Gear needed: Water bladder with electrolytes, day pack, hiking shoes, snacks, head lamp, and wool socks.

Duration: 2 hours (6a-8a)

Beginner hiking: We will have a slower pace, take frequent breaks to keep energy up, work on proper foot work to save their legs and have them switch up leading and pacing.

Workshop Layout

6am: Put headlamps on and make sure everyone has their gear

6:15am: Start hiking

7:15am: Short snack break

7:30am: Steep hill foot work and decline walking

8am: Finish

We will meet at Nathan Benderson Park for our first biking workshop. We are starting at the park because it is easier to learn on a flat concret surface since the tires roll easier. Todat is all about building confidence and comort within their supported skills on the back.

Workshop Details

Address: Nathan Benderson Park (5851 Nathan Benderson Cir)

Gear needed: Water with electrolytes, tennis shoes, snacks, biking gloves, and a helmet.

Duration: 2 1/2 hours (7:30a-10a)

Beginner biking: We will start with skill work on the ground and slowly work into memorizing skills on the bike. Finish with them pedaling assisted.

Workshop Layout

7:30am: Make sure everyone has their gear

7:45am: Start warming up and working on balance and biking skills

8:30am Snack and hydration break

8:45am: Practice skills on the bike. For ex putting your foot down and hitting the break to catch yourself, standing on the pedals and balancing, and assiting riding.

9:30am: Cool down

10am: Finish

We will have our second hiking workshop. This time around we will test their mental toughness and push them a little harder. This is to start building resilience within themselves and trust with thier coaches
 
Then we will finish with fast laps on the steep front face of the celery fields.

Gear needed: Water bladder with electrolytes, day pack, hiking shoes, snacks, head lamp, and wool socks.

Duration: 3 hours (7a-10a)

Intermediate hiking: We will have an intermediate pace with few breaks to test their endurance and mental toughness. We will then do 4 sets of fast inclines and declines on the steep front fast of the celery fields.

8am: Snack and hydration break

8:30am: Steep hill foot work and decline walking

9am: Finish with fast pace hiking

10am: Finish

We will have our kayaking workshop at Benderson. In this workshop we start by teaching all the skills on land to build confidence with the equipment and their ability. We use our progressive training protocol to build on each skill and cue. Once we see the confidence is there we end with getting them on the water.
 
The goal of this workshop is to have them experience kayaking independently. These are the moments that instill self confidence and drive.

Gear needed: Water with electrolytes, water shoes or barefoot, snacks, GTFO hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Duration: 2 hours (8a-10a)

Beginner kayaking: Memorize proper beginner skills i.e hand placement on the ore, how to paddle, pulling through the water, steering your kayak left or right, and backing out.

Workshop Layout

8am: Make sure everyone has their gear & stretch

8:15am: Start kayaking skills

8:45am: Snack and hydration break

9am: More advanced kayaking skills and going into just verbal cues

9:15am: Fast tempo verbal cues to make sure they have the skills memorized

9:30am: Hydrate and then kayak on the water

10am: Finish

We will learn fly fishing skills and test their kayaking skills from the week prior. We want them to experience fly fishing and make it a game by giving them targets on the water to hit. We will switch from fly fishing to kayaking to avoid any of the athletes getting discouraged. The goal is to practice skills and getting comfortable with casting on their own.

Gear needed: Water with electrolytes, water shoes or barefoot, snacks, GTFO hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Duration: 3 hours (8a-11a)

Beginner fly fishing: Teach proper hand placement on the pole and comfort with casting. Once this is acheived they will practice aiming their cast.

Intermediate kayaking: Work on skills and cues while on the water.

Workshop Layout

8am: Make sure everyone has their gear & introduce them to their skills coach.

8:15am: Start teaching fly fishing skills and end with them casting on their own.

9am: Snack and hydration break

9:15am: Start the fly fishing casting games for those that are ready.

9:45am: Spend the rest of the time alternating 2 athletes in kayaks and 2 athletes fly fishing.

11am: Finish

We will join the team at Treeumph to face some mental and physical challenges. This workshop is a lot of fun and a great time to build trust between coaches and athletes. The course slowly get higher off the ground and the balance challenges become more difficult.
 
Our goal within this workshop is for each and every adventure athlete to leave more confident then when they came. It takes a lot of courage to do this workshop and they will leave feeling extremely brave.

Location: Meet at Treeumph (21805 State Road 70 E, Bradenton, FL 34202)

Gear needed: Hiking boots or shoes, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and wool socks.

Duration: 4 hours (9a-1p)

Beginner/intermediate ziplining: The goal is to get every athlete through level 1. The furthest we will have them go on this day is through level 2. Ziplining is all about verbal cues, trust within oneself, and finding the courage to keep pushing forward.

Workshop Layout

9am: Meet at Treeumph and get gear.

9:15am: Start the zipline safety course

9:30am: Hydrate and then start the zipline course

11:30am: Finish level 2 course

12-1pm: Go do the big zipline, then have lunch, and finish up.

This is a big endurance workshop day. The adventure athletes will start the day with a fast paced 2 hour hike with around 25lbs in their packs. This is meant to be more difficult than the hike in the Adirondacks so that when we do hike up north it feels easy when compared.
 
After hiking and a short break we will freshen up on their biking skills. The goal is to have each athlete pedaling the bike for at least 10ft on their own.

Today is about building confidence, showing how proud of them we are, and getting them excited for their adventure.
 
We ask for the parents to join this workshop, so that you can enjoy a sunrise hike with them and work with them on their biking skills as a family!

Intermediate biking: Practice standing while peddling, cone drills, and peddling uphill. (all skills are individualized to each athlete)

For this program we need 10 skateboard mentors/coaches to work with these exceptional athletes. Each mentor will be partnered with an athlete to work with and befriend throughout the program. If you are interested please fill out the application below and we will be in touch.

ADVENTURE COACH

MAKE AN IMPACT

The difference between a coach and a volunteer is the level of committment and the specificity of your time given. As a coach you will be involved with these atheltes through the entire adventure program. You will help with accountability, adventure workshops, 1:1 training, and more. Each year we take at least 1 of our coaches to the Adirondacks to experience it with the athletes. For this program, we need 2 coaches to work with these exceptional adventure athletes. To help these exceptional athletes stay motivated and progress between workshops we have developed some at home training videos with Coach Chase. If at anytime the adventure athlete is struggling to stay motivated, have them watch our video from last years adventure to the Adirondacks to inspire them to keep pushing forward towards this amazing experience and goal!

ACCOUNTABILITY

Accountability and motivation are key factors to progressing towards a goal. We have designed over 20 different print off sheets for the adventure athletes to use on a weekly basis. Some examples are at home training sessions, hydration tracker, weekly schedule, monthly goals, motivational quote of the week, habit tracker, habit breaker, and more.

WORKSHOP DETAILS

This hiking workshop is a great way to emerse them into the feeling of being an adventurer since they will start their hike in the dark with a head lamp. This is also a great way for our coaches to find out how they work together and communicate.

Workshop Details

Location: Meet at the Celery Fields (6893 Palmer Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34240)

Gear needed: Water bladder with electrolytes, day pack, hiking shoes, snacks, head lamp, and wool socks.

Duration: 2 hours (6a-8a)

Beginner hiking: We will have a slower pace, take frequent breaks to keep energy up, work on proper foot work to save their legs and have them switch up leading and pacing.

Workshop Layout

6am: Put headlamps on and make sure everyone has their gear

6:15am: Start hiking

7:15am: Short snack break

7:30am: Steep hill foot work and decline walking

8am: Finish

We will meet at Nathan Benderson Park for our first biking workshop. We are starting at the park because it is easier to learn on a flat concret surface since the tires roll easier. Todat is all about building confidence and comort within their supported skills on the back.

Workshop Details

Gear needed: Water with electrolytes, tennis shoes, snacks, biking gloves, and a helmet.

Duration: 2 1/2 hours (7:30a-10a)

Beginner biking: We will start with skill work on the ground and slowly work into memorizing skills on the bike. Finish with them pedaling assisted.

Workshop Layout

7:30am: Make sure everyone has their gear

7:45am: Start warming up and working on balance and biking skills

8:30am Snack and hydration break

8:45am: Practice skills on the bike. For ex putting your foot down and hitting the break to catch yourself, standing on the pedals and balancing, and assiting riding.

9:30am: Cool down

10am: Finish

We will have our second hiking workshop. This time around we will test their mental toughness and push them a little harder. This is to start building resilience within themselves and trust with thier coaches
 
Then we will finish with fast laps on the steep front face of the celery fields.

Workshop Details

Location: Meet at the Celery Fields (6893 Palmer Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34240)

Gear needed: Water bladder with electrolytes, day pack, hiking shoes, snacks, head lamp, and wool socks.

Duration: 3 hours (7a-10a)

Intermediate hiking: We will have an intermediate pace with few breaks to test their endurance and mental toughness. We will then do 4 sets of fast inclines and declines on the steep front fast of the celery fields.

8am: Snack and hydration break

8:30am: Steep hill foot work and decline walking

9am: Finish with fast pace hiking

10am: Finish

We will have our kayaking workshop at Benderson. In this workshop we start by teaching all the skills on land to build confidence with the equipment and their ability. We use our progressive training protocol to build on each skill and cue. Once we see the confidence is there we end with getting them on the water.
 
The goal of this workshop is to have them experience kayaking independently. These are the moments that instill self confidence and drive.

Gear needed: Water with electrolytes, water shoes or barefoot, snacks, GTFO hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Duration: 2 hours (8a-10a)

Beginner kayaking: Memorize proper beginner skills i.e hand placement on the ore, how to paddle, pulling through the water, steering your kayak left or right, and backing out.

Workshop Layout

8am: Make sure everyone has their gear & stretch

8:15am: Start kayaking skills

8:45am: Snack and hydration break

9am: More advanced kayaking skills and going into just verbal cues

9:15am: Fast tempo verbal cues to make sure they have the skills memorized

9:30am: Hydrate and then kayak on the water

10am: Finish

We will learn fly fishing skills and test their kayaking skills from the week prior. We want them to experience fly fishing and make it a game by giving them targets on the water to hit. We will switch from fly fishing to kayaking to avoid any of the athletes getting discouraged. The goal is to practice skills and getting comfortable with casting on their own.

Gear needed: Water with electrolytes, water shoes or barefoot, snacks, GTFO hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Duration: 3 hours (8a-11a)

Beginner fly fishing: Teach proper hand placement on the pole and comfort with casting. Once this is acheived they will practice aiming their cast.

Intermediate kayaking: Work on skills and cues while on the water.

Workshop Layout

8am: Make sure everyone has their gear & introduce them to their skills coach.

8:15am: Start teaching fly fishing skills and end with them casting on their own.

9am: Snack and hydration break

9:15am: Start the fly fishing casting games for those that are ready.

9:45am: Spend the rest of the time alternating 2 athletes in kayaks and 2 athletes fly fishing.

11am: Finish

We will join the team at Treeumph to face some mental and physical challenges. This workshop is a lot of fun and a great time to build trust between coaches and athletes. The course slowly get higher off the ground and the balance challenges become more difficult.
 
Our goal within this workshop is for each and every adventure athlete to leave more confident then when they came. It takes a lot of courage to do this workshop and they will leave feeling extremely brave.

Location: Meet at Treeumph (21805 State Road 70 E, Bradenton, FL 34202)

Gear needed: Hiking boots or shoes, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and wool socks.

Duration: 4 hours (9a-1p)

Beginner/intermediate ziplining: The goal is to get every athlete through level 1. The furthest we will have them go on this day is through level 2. Ziplining is all about verbal cues, trust within oneself, and finding the courage to keep pushing forward.

Workshop Layout

9am: Meet at Treeumph and get gear.

9:15am: Start the zipline safety course

9:30am: Hydrate and then start the zipline course

11:30am: Finish level 2 course

12-1pm: Go do the big zipline, then have lunch, and finish up.

This is a big endurance workshop day. The adventure athletes will start the day with a fast paced 2 hour hike with around 25lbs in their packs. This is meant to be more difficult than the hike in the Adirondacks so that when we do hike up north it feels easy when compared.
 
After hiking and a short break we will freshen up on their biking skills. The goal is to have each athlete pedaling the bike for at least 10ft on their own.

This is the final workshop before we head off to an adventure of a lifetime!
 
Today is about building confidence, showing how proud of them we are, and getting them excited for their adventure.
 
We ask for the parents to join this workshop, so that you can enjoy a sunrise hike with them and work with them on their biking skills as a family!

Advanced hiking: Fast pace, footwork up and down hills, and sticking to our finalized hiking line up.

Intermediate biking: Practice standing while peddling, cone drills, and peddling uphill. (all skills are individualized to each athlete)
