ADVENTURE COACH

MAKE AN IMPACT

For this program we need 4 cycling mentors/coaches to work with these exceptional athletes. Each mentor will work with AFA to determine which days they can ride with the athletes from April-August. We plan way in advance to help be mindful of your busy lives and to help you stay committed to these exceptional athletes and their success! RIDE & WORKSHOP DETAILS

These group workshops allow us to focus on skills or push them physically while removing some varibles like balance, the weather, etc.
 
We use these workshops to work on cueing, doing sprint work, getting saddle time, and more.

Dates: April 13th, May 4th, June 15th, 22nd, July 13th, 20th, 27th, Aug 3rd, 10th

Skill work: What it means to ride a tempo to conserve energy, coaching cues like (stand up, shift up, shift down, coast, peddle hard, etc), how to shift, form when standing and pedaling and more.

Workshop Layout

4:00p-4:15p: Dynamic warm up

4:15p-5:00p: Tempo ride, sprints, shifting skill work, coaching cues, and more

5:00p-5:15p: Cool down

Thanks to Specialized we were able to get the shifters that are on their gravel bikes seperately and attach them to their spin bikes to practice shifting while removing other stressful varibles. This will allow them to focus more and learn the new skill faster. Then we will apply these same cues on the group rides done outdoors on their gravel bikes..
 
Their are 3 total shifting workshops and with each workshop we will add in more and more variables while giving them their shifting cues and make sure it becomes second nature before hitting longer rides.

Skill work: Work on gearing up and down with the shifters we attached to their spin bikes. When they shift we will turn the tension of the bike up or down to match their shifting to teach them waht it should feel like when they shift on their gravel bikes.

4:00p-4:15p: Dynamic warm up

4:15p-5:00p: Shifting skill work and coaching cues

5:00p-5:15p: Cool down

These group rides become progressively harder each time we meet. We will do some flat road rides early on to teach biking etiquette. From their we will find route with more hills to practice gearing and cadence. Then eventually we will do our rides on gravel roads and get them comfortable with riding on that terrain.
 
Each ride is supervised by a minimum of 2 coaches.

Skill work: Get comfortable riding as a group and situational training so they know how to react just incase they incounter a situation during the race. Each workshops builds on the skills learned in the previous workshop.

MAKE AN IMPACT

For this program we need 10 skateboard mentors/coaches to work with these exceptional athletes. Each mentor will be partnered with an athlete to work with and befriend throughout the program. If you are interested please fill out the application below and we will be in touch.

At AFA our programs support athletes through challenging phases and sometimes those phases include falls here and there, but when our athletes push through those fears and get back up they earn that never give up attitude! You can purchase your recommended gear below!
